October 11th to 13th - Jungfrau, Grindelwald, driving to Austria

11th October
Wow I must start with the most exciting part of the day! In the morning we ran out of toilet paper and didn’t buy any in the afternoon so we had to ask the owner for some. Well maybe that wasn’t very exciting but I think that walking in the snow in the Swiss Alps might be a bit better. We parked the car back at Lauterbrunnen and caught a train up to Kleine Scheidegg where we changed trains and went up to Eigergletscher where we were the only ones there. We then started our walk back down to Kleine Scheidegg. We were walking in fresh powder snow that was 10 cm deep. We found icicles and ate them. The ice and snow tasted really nice but very cold. As we were walking we went through a tunnel which had water frozen and it was fun until I fell over on my head, it is still sore now. We came to a lake and had lunch. There was a house and inside there was a fake mountain were you could see the routes people took to climb the mountain. It was interesting to see that as the technology got better the routes people took got straighter. On the way down my brother made a massive snow ball which was too heavy for him to carry so I had to help him. We got back down to Kleine Scheidegg where I bought post cards and my mum bought a handmade cow. We then caught a train back down the mountain and had hot chocolates. I had the best white hot chocolate I have ever had (even though it was my first). We then went home to Interlarken.

Today we went to the snow again but this time we went up to a mountain called First via cable car. When we parked our car at Grindelwald we came out in a little town covered in snow. It was beautiful and a lovely place to walk through. Once we were at the cable car we got our tickets and headed up. The cable cars were small so we went in one cable car by ourselves. It was a lovely ride up because as we went up we saw more of the valley and the town.  The sun was very bright because the light bounced off the snow. At the top we bought some sun glasses so we could see without squinting.  We then had an hour long walk to two lakes. It was an amazing walk because we could see all the mountains and the untouched snow. Once we had got to the lakes we built a snow man and had lunch. We also created some new paths through the snow which was lots of fun but also made our feet very wet. So on the way back we had a wet and cold trip. It was still lots of fun. We then got the cable car back down the mountain and once we got back to the car we took our socks and shoes off. My socks were so wet that we could ring them out!  When we got back to Interlaken we went to look at the shops. We bought some chocolate from a Swiss chocolate shop. It was delicious. When we got back home we packed our bags for a long drive to our next destination in Austria.

Today we drove into Austria for the next couple of days. On the way there we had a stop in Luzern where we bought some jam donuts and walked to the tower bridge it was beautiful. The bridge was covered in flowers and there were swans everywhere and it was just lovely. Luzern is like Sydney in the size of it but it is very sweet and simple with no big buildings.  We then drove to Mols where we had lunch by lake Wollensee. We then drove on an Autobahn and got up to 195 km per hour. It was lots of fun.  Once we got to our stay we were tired and sleepy from the long drive and then we got in there and we found that it was a couple of rooms in a person’s farm. It was cool but freaky. We then had a simple dinner and went to bed.
