November 2nd to 5th - London

2 of November
Today woke up early to get ready because we had to go to London. After saying good bye to everyone we went to London. We were staying in John’s apartment and had a lot of trouble parking because the parking spot was almost in possible to get into. We went upstairs and met John again and then we went to meet Josh’s sister Eliza. We met her and had hot chocolates with her. It was nice to meet her because dad talked about the Lumley’s a lot. We said good bye and caught a train to Covent Garden. This is where mum and I went and watched the royal ballet perform Don Quixote. It was amazing to watch the dances, it was very lively and full of wonderful dancing. One of the main dancers hurt herself and couldn’t dance the rest of the performance so we had a principle dancer take her place. It was very exciting and she danced beautifully. After the performance we went out to meet dad and the boys. It was amazing how crowded it was. We hardly got on the train because there were so many people. There was a sigh of relief because we were out of the crowds but then we couldn’t unlock the door of the flat so for half an hour we were stuck outside waiting for the door to be unlocked (note from dad - maybe ten minutes). It wasn’t the end to the day we had hoped for.   Once we got inside we had dinner and went to bed after a big day.

Today we had another full day. We got ready and went to The Tower of London to see the crown jewels.  It was interesting to hear about the history of the buildings and to see the beautiful crown jewels. The diamonds and other jewels were so big. Once we had finished there we went to a suburb on the outskirts of London to see a shop dedicated to doctor who. Once we got there after a long train ride we found that it was closed.  This made me a bit distraught because I had been looking forward to seeing that shop. We then went to Trafalgar Square - this is where the national gallery is. Mum and I went inside and saw paintings by Monte, Van Gogh and Renoir. It was amazing to see such well known paintings in real life. We then went and found the theatre where we were going to see Matilda the production. Once we found it we saw that there was a sci-fi shop full of geeks including myself. I had some hard decisions to make about what to buy from the doctor who section. I finally decided on a tardis with the 11th doctor and Amy. I was very pleased with my purchase. We then went and found our seats in the theatre. We had a great view. It was an amazing show. I enjoyed it a lot and it was very emotional. After a big day we were happy to get home and have dinner. We then had a Skype call with our cousins from Chile. After that we went to bed and we fell asleep very quickly.

Today we went and went on the London eye. We had some amazing views and sights. After seeing London from above we went and saw Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. It was beautiful to see the abbey from inside and to stand where the Queen, Kate and other royals stood. After that we headed to Buckingham through a park. In the park we were able to feed squirrels! It was interesting to see their different personalities come out when they approach you. Once we got to Buckingham Palace we enjoyed looking in the windows to see if anyone was home because the flag was flying. We didn’t see anyone so we went to see the royal mews. It was very interesting to see the horses and carriages. Did you know that the people who work there actually live there as well? We finished there and went on a train to a tardis at Earls Court. This was very cool to stand with a tardis - it was as if I could sense the doctor’s presence.   We then caught a very traditional London bus. It was red and a double decker we sat up the top. It was lots of fun. We got off at a shopping centre called Harrods. It was very cool to be in such a big shopping centre. It was like a Westfield but owned by one company and without small shops instead it had floors for different things like a toys floor and a handbag and cosmetics floor. Once we finished there we went on a train back home ad had dinner and went to bed.

Today we met another Lumley. Her name is Oli and she was eight last time Dad saw her. It was very nice to meet another Lumley because they are such nice people (and we got more hot chocolates). We then went for a walk to Borough Markets where we bought some fantastic fish and chips for lunch. We walked over the Millennium Bridge and went to St Pauls Cathedral. This was a very grand cathedral and was the place where Princess Diana got married. After walking around we were entertained by a strange man who could not sing. My dad started laughing because he probably only got one note right. He also dressed not in the normal way. He had lipstick and nail polish and a pink guitar. I think we were all glad to leave. We then caught a taxi back to our apartment because we were too tired to walk and it was a good excuse to have a ride in a black cab. Once we got home we didn’t do much and had a good night sleep after our big day.
