We had a very slow morning. Outside it was quite lovely
because there was no sound and there was ice on the car with the sun on it. I
loved it but it was too cold to stay out for long. So I sat around the gas fire
and finallly got out the door. We went to the largest lake in England and caught
a ferry from Bowness to another town (Ambleside) just along the edge of the lake. It was a beautiful
lake and it had lovely country side all around it. Once we got to the town we
walked around looking in shops and having hot chocolates. It then started
raining and we wanted to catch the next ferry so we had to run in the rain to
catch it. It was a good thing that we caught it because the sun came out and
one of the mountains had snow on it. It was so beautiful and perfect timing.
Once we got back to the car we went to a town where we bought groceries and looked
in some shops. We then went home for a late lunch and had a lazy rest of the
day.

We woke up and drove to Beatrix Potter’s house. It was
special to stand right where she stood. We also saw a rabbit with a little
cotton tale. It was very sweet and beautiful. On our way back to the house we
stopped at a beautiful lake. It was quite spectacular and we could have looked
at it all day. We then got home and Lachy and dad got ready for the soccer
match. To fill you in Lachy and dad got tickets to one of the biggest matches
with Lachy’s favourite team playing (Man U vs Arsenal). Once they were gone Josh and I played
games and blogged till Mr Bean’s Holiday was on and we watched that. After
dinner Lachy and dad got home and told us all about the game - it was quite
interesting to listen to. We then went to bed and had a good sleep.

Today we drove to Scotland. It was raining which was good
for a day of driving. We have been very lucky with the weather on our trip
because on the days we are driving we have bad weather and on the other days we
have good weather. On our way through we stopped at Hadrian's Wall which was a
wall built by the Romans to keep the Scots out. The Scots are very fearsome and
rather than fight them the Romans decided to put a wall up. It was a very long
and thick wall. It was three meters wide so that the men could run along it.
There was also a fort about every mile along it so that it was easy to defend.
We stopped at one of these forts. It was great because we could walk all over
them and see the different parts to the fort. After a lot of fun running around
we went back to the car and drove straight to Scotland. Dad though he had left
his glasses at a supermarket so he had to wear his sun glasses in the dark. It
wasn’t the safest thing but it was better than him having no glasses at all. We
got to the place where we were staying and had a look around. We unpacked the
car and dad found his glasses! He was very happy because he could see. We went
to a hotel for dinner which was very nice and we had a lot of fun. After a very
satisfying dinner we went home and went to bed.
